The Stakes Are Upper For Dim Ladies Writers on Crash
In the summertime of 2022, a moment ahead of the WGA writers strike, a chum of mine attended a marriage and met a Hollywood TV manufacturer. On the generation, I used to be using this pal as a part-time worker, and she or he was once excited to inform this manufacturer — a white guy, it will have to be stated — in regards to the paintings we had been doing in combination. That moment I have been in two writers rooms past concurrently revising a component, a pilot, and buying groceries two free presentations round the town. “It’s a white woman getting all that work?” the manufacturer requested her, incredulous. My pal corrected him: “No, she’s Black.” That gave the impression to unclouded one thing up for the fellow. “Oh, that makes sense,” he instructed her. “They’re the only ones getting work these days.”
