Kate Middleton Shares “Apologies” For Missing Event
Kate Middleton has shared a message with the Irish Guards as she misses the annual Colonel’s Review, an event that falls before the traditional Trooping the Colour celebration.
The letter, which the Irish Guards shared on X, read, “I wanted to write and let you know how proud I am of the entire Regiment ahead of the Colonel’s Review and Trooping the Colour. I appreciate everyone trooping this year has been practicing for months, and dedicating many hours to ensuring their uniforms and drill are immaculate.”
She went on, “Being your Colonel remains a great honor, and I’m very sorry that I’m unable to salute at this year’s Colonel’s Review. Please pass my apologies to the whole Regiment, however I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon.”
The letter was signed, “Colonel Catherine.”
In previous years, Kate Middleton has played a key role in the Colonel’s Review, acting as Inspecting Officer. However, last week, Kensington Palace announced that Middleton would not be attending this year’s event amidst her ongoing cancer treatment. The role instead fell to Lieutenant General James Bucknall, KCB, CBE, a former commander of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps.
Royal fans are still hoping that Middleton will manage to make a surprise appearance on the balcony at the Trooping the Colour event next week on June 15—according to royal experts, the princess in “considering” whether such an appearance will be possible.
This comes after reports that Middleton’s cancer treatment has “turned a corner.”
“She’s tolerating this preventative chemotherapy better,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight. “I think she had a hard time in the beginning. These are strong drugs that she’s on, but she’s tolerating it better, and she’s doing better. We’ve had reports from members of the public that she’s been out and about. I’ve heard from from certain people that… she’s out with the children. That’s a really positive sign.”
