Rachel Zegler Walks Back Frustrated Comments About Donald Trump

Rachel Zegler has apologized for her frustrated comments about Donald Trump and his supporters following the election, after drawing ire from political commentators and Trump backers.

The actor shared a statement on Instagram on Friday, November 15, apologizing for her lengthy election post she made the previous week. “I let my emotions get the best of me.”

“Hatred and anger have caused us to move further and further away from peace and understanding, and I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse,” Zegler wrote. “I firmly believe that everyone has the right to their own opinion, even when it differs from my own.”

The Snow White star shared a series of impassioned paragraphs on Instagram the Wednesday after the election when Trump was officially voted the president-elect for the second time. In between acts of Romeo & Juliet on Broadway, Zegler wrote that she was “speechless” about “another four years of hatred” and living in a world “I do not want to live in.” She then echoed musician Ethel Cain’s past statement, writing “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.”

“It is terrifying the number of people who stand behind what this man preaches,” she continued. “It is a foolish subscription to a false sense of security, of masculinity, of intelligence, of patriotism, and of humanity.”

On Zegler’s final Instagram slide, she said she was about to go back onstage for the second act of her play, but before she went, she said she was “sending love to everyone who needs it today.”

“I will love through these four years of as best i can,” Zegler continued. “F*ck donald trump.”

While many people expressed their disappointment with the election results, Zegler was targeted by Trump supporters, including poltiical commentator Megyn Kelly, who called on Disney to re-shoot Snow White after her comments.

“[Rachel Zegler] is a pig, and you fired Gina Carano for far less than this nonsense,” Kelly said, referencing The Mandalorian star who was let go from the show in 2021 after Lucasfilm said “her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.” Carano, an ardent Trump supporter, shared multiple social media posts mocking the use of masks during the pandemic and making fun of pronouns. The actor sued Disney and Lucasfilm earlier this year, with the help of X, for wrongful termination.
