Tom Holland’s Dad Says Actor Was “Well Prepared” for Proposal to Zendaya

Tom Holland‘s proposal to Zendaya was not just a spur-of-the-moment event and actually required some thought on the actor’s end.

In a recent blog post to his Patreon account, Holland’s dad, comedian and author Dominic Holland wrote about the details surrounding his son and Zendaya’s recent engagement, confirming the news once again. Leaving out the where and how of it all, Dominic Holland wrote — according to PEOPLE — that Tom was “well prepared.” Zendaya is a Virgo, after all, meaning preparation and planning were likely appreciated.

“Tom, as you know by now, was very incredibly well prepared,” Dominic wrote. “He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear.”

While Dominic didn’t say when exactly Tom popped the question, it’s clear that the Spider-Man actor proposed sometime between Christmas and New Year’s. Zendaya casually flashed her engagement ring at the 2025 Golden Globes on January 5, walking the red carpet in a gorgeous burnt orange gown and cropped bob hairstyle. Holland was not present, but the ring on her finger said everything about the couple.

Not only did Holland take the couple’s relationship to the next level by proposing, the pair had already done something a little more permanent. Tattoo artist Lily Jarnryd told PEOPLE that Zendaya and Holland came into her shop to get each other’s first initial tattooed on them. Zendaya’s little “t” tattoo could be seen poking out from under her dress at the Golden Globes, and Jarnryd said that Holland has a “z” in the same spot.

Tom Holland and Zendaya started dating sometime in 2021 after meeting on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Zendaya played Holland’s love interest, MJ, and is rumored to be returning for the fourth installment of the Marvel franchise. The pair have kept a pretty low profile over the years, sometimes sharing sweet and funny posts on social media about each other, or gushing over each other in the press. But overall, they’ve maintained their privacy and have become one of the most beloved couples in Hollywood.
