Jessica Carter Altman x Vivienne Westwood PFW Couture Moment

Jessica Carter Altman has long been a fashion force to watch — her impeccable style, love for couture, and ability to blend modernity with classic sophistication have solidified her place in the industry. But this Paris Fashion Week, the singer-songwriter and rising fashion star reached a new pinnacle: stepping into the Vivienne Westwood atelier in London for a custom couture fitting ahead of the Vivienne Westwood Womenswear Fall/Winter 2025-2026 show in Paris.
Now, exclusively for GRAZIA USA, Carter Altman takes us inside the intimate world of Vivienne Westwood haute couture — where rebellion meets artistry — detailing the creative process of her fitting, her awe-inspiring first Vivienne Westwood show, and the unforgettable moments that defined her Parisian fashion week experience.
Inside the Vivienne Westwood Couture Atelier

The Vivienne Westwood house has always been synonymous with avant-garde fashion, political statements, and a distinct ability to marry structure with subversion. For Carter Altman, stepping into the London atelier to see her custom piece for the first time was nothing short of magical.
“Vivienne’s designs have always had an electrifying way of marrying timeless elegance with an unapologetic, rebellious edge,” Carter Altman tells GRAZIA. “The team at Vivienne Westwood masterfully captured what my vision was for the dress while maintaining everything that makes a Vivienne Westwood piece so special. I left the atelier feeling inspired.”

Couture fittings are known for being transformative experiences, and Carter Altman’s was no exception. From the moment she began working with the Westwood team, she was met with an unparalleled level of craftsmanship and creativity.
“The team at Vivienne Westwood made everything so easy! We were all on the same page from my very first meeting, and it was just a playful and fun process from start to finish. When working with such a highly experienced team, the creative limits are endless,” she shares. “We discussed every aspect of the dress down to the smallest detail.”
The Dress: An Ode to Vivienne’s Legacy

Westwood’s signature corsetry has long been a symbol of empowerment rather than restriction, and for Carter Altman, incorporating that element into her look was a non-negotiable.
“I love a corset, and the Vivienne Westwood corset is one of the most iconic. Unlike historical corsets that symbolized restriction, Vivienne Westwood’s designs have completely turned that narrative around. She has always championed body confidence by empowering and never confining,” she explains.

Beyond its structure, the dress itself was a masterclass in versatility — something that truly surprised Carter Altman during the fitting. “I was surprised at the versatility of the dress. I love the initial design and styling but was so excited about the number of ways it could be worn,” she reveals.
“With each fitting, the team at Vivienne Westwood would show me how I could play with the length, the straps, and the intricate detailing to create any look to suit my mood and situation. The dress was designed as a gown with multiple layers of pearl detailing. For the show, we hitched up the train, modified the straps, and removed some of the pearl details to create a completely different look.”
Paris Fashion Week: A Full-Circle Moment

Wearing custom Vivienne Westwood couture to one of the most anticipated shows of Paris Fashion Week was an experience the Aftermath singer won’t soon forget. “This was my first Vivienne Westwood show, and the entire experience was absolutely incredible,” she says. “Walking in and seeing Brigitte, who is the Head of Couture, was really special. We’ve been working on this dress together for a while, and to have it all come together at the show was incredible.”

But the night wasn’t just about the show — it was about the people who made it special. “Meeting Andreas Kronthaler after the show was unforgettable,” she adds with excitement.
“It is special enough to be able to attend such an iconic show, but to be able to attend the show and meet the designer afterward is another thing entirely.”

“I was also able to attend the show with my friend Franck Duquenne — Head of Haute Couture at Jean Paul Gaultier. Having him attend a show as special as the Vivienne Westwood show with me was so much fun!”

As for the runway itself? It delivered on everything a Vivienne Westwood show promises: boundary-pushing fashion, theatrical storytelling, and a rebellious spirit.
“There are too many [moments]!” Carter Altman exclaims when asked what left the biggest impression on her. “The show was gorgeous. It was everything you would hope for in a Vivienne Westwood show. I love a beautiful tailored look, and the show had so many amazing ones reimagined with the classic Vivienne Westwood playfulness and edge.”
