Katie Holmes Wore the Ageless Summer Shoe Trend Jane Fonda Is Also a Fan Of

Last week, Katie Holmes stepped out in the casual-cool outfit I wear all summer: loose linen pants and a white tank top. But while I’ve often kept it just as simple with my shoe choice, opting for either white sneakers or comfy slides, Holmes used it as an opportunity to elevate the entire look, pairing the wardrobe basics with a reflective silver ballet flat.

Metallic flats are the ageless shoe taking over Hollywood, worn by Jane Fonda and Meghan Markle, and it’s for good reason: with next to no effort, they can make any outfit instantly chicer. And few looks proved this to be true more than when Holmes’ silver Tory Burch ballet flats made her classic, casual summer pieces feel modern and cool.

These now-$28 Mary Jane flats you can grab on Amazon get you pretty close to Holmes’ shoes, with a mirror-like silver finish and small, squared toe that shoppers say give the shoes a modern, on-trend look. One person even wrote that the silhouette makes the shoes look “more expensive” than they actually are, adding that it also gives the sometimes juvenile style a more grown-up feel. And while looks are important, fans note that they are also “extremely comfortable” and “sturdy.”

If you prefer your ballet flats without a strap—Holmes herself seems to have removed the one from her Tory Burch flats—consider grabbing this on-sale pair from Sam Edelman. This style has a sweet bow and an almost foil-like silver finish, a combination that makes it feel both cute and modern. According to one fan of the flats, these shoes are “elegant, simple, and super comfortable,” so much so that “you’ll feel like you have no shoes on.”

Madewell’s Greta Ballet Flats are nearly identical to Holmes’ pair, but for about a third of the price. According to fans, the Greta flats are “absolutely adorable,” versatile (one person noted they’ve worn them with everything including jeans, dresses, and overalls), high-quality, and comfortable right out of the box. “I was so surprised at how comfy they are…[they] have the softest leather I’ve ever felt on a shoe,” raved one shopper, while another said that they feel ridiculously good and “elevate any outfit.”
