Fans of Sex and the City are no doubt gobbling up Kristin Davis’ new podcast Are You a Charlotte?, where Davis is revisiting the hit HBO show episode-by-episode and talking to guests about her experience playing Charlotte York Goldenblatt.
On a recent episode, Davis shared the storyline from SATC—which ran from 1998 to 2004—that she “hated” so much she pleaded not to do it. At one point, Davis and co-star Evan Handler (who plays Charlotte’s second husband Harry Goldenblatt on the show) end up on the bathroom floor after what was supposed to be a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner.

“I just hated that storyline so much,” Davis said on her podcast (and per Entertainment Weekly). “I went to [writers] Elisa Zuritsky and Julie Rottenberg and said, ‘Please, do we have to do this? Why?’”
It happened during the show’s sixth and final season, in the episode called “The Ick Factor.” In case you don’t remember, Harry orders an extravagant cart of French cheeses, hoping to impress Charlotte. Instead of a Valentine’s Day filled with romance, Harry and Charlotte end up with food poisoning.
“They were like, ‘It’s so funny,’” Davis said. “I think it was based on a story where someone went to France and had a similar experience with their decadent cheeses, which we’re not used to here.”

Davis, however, wasn’t into the storyline: “I didn’t like that,” she said. “I didn’t want to lay on the floor of the bathroom with Evan in stained T-shirts.” Perhaps referencing the episode’s title subconsciously, she added, “Ick.”
Later, in 2008’s Sex and the City: The Movie, Charlotte—how shall we say?—has some embarrassing gastrointestinal issues while in Mexico with BFFs Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (played by Cynthia Nixon), and Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall).

“This is second to what [SATC creator] Michael [Patrick King] put me through in Mexico in the water, which I’m not going to go into detail [about] because everyone knows!” Davis said on the podcast.
She added, “I still have to talk about the [Charlotte pooping in her pants scene] in interviews. And I’m like, ‘Thank you, Michael Patrick King, for doing this to me!’”
