Lana Del Rey Reveals Taylor Swift’s Key to Success: “She Wants It”

Lana Del Rey is one of the few people in the world who have a personal connection to Taylor Swift. The pair have known each other for years, have a shared working relationship with megaproducer Jack Antonoff, and have a song together. So it comes as no surprise that Del Rey has some insight as to why Swift has found so much success.

In a recent article from BBC News that explores Swift reaching an explosive level of fame — putting her at the same level as music icons Michael Jackson and Madonna — the publication spoke to other musicians to get an idea of why the Tortured Poets Department singer is so successful. Del Rey, who is close with Swift, chimed in and gave a very straightforward answer to the question:

“She wants it,” Del Rey told BBC News. “She’s told me so many times that she wants it more than anyone. And how amazing — she’s getting exactly what she wants.”

The musician continued: “She’s driven, and I think it’s really paid off.”

Swift’s hard work and drive have led to her having a record-breaking world tour, which is projected to make $2 billion when she finishes her last show in December, according to BBC, on top of the $261 million her Eras Tour concert film made. Singer Raye also told BBC that “She is just one of those rare timeless artists who gets it right every time,” adding that Swift is “an absolute powerhouse.”

Lana Del Rey’s words about her friend and “Snow on the Beach” collaborator come just months after she headlined at Coachella in April while Swift and Travis Kelce were spotted throughout the festival grounds and in the audience during different sets. Fans speculated that there might be some tension between Del Rey and Swift at the 2024 Grammys when Swift won Album of the Year for Midnights and brought Del Rey on stage with her to accept the award. Del Rey’s album, Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd was also nominated in the category, and some thought it was uncool of Swift to bring her on stage. But Del Rey cleared up any assumptions immediately.

“I literally just loved being there,” Del Rey wrote in the comments of a fan post on Instagram. “I love to see everyone, get the tea and hang out. Get dressed up.”

She continued: “I literally did not feel 1 ounce of negative emotion at any point in that award ceremony. It was pure funniness and laughter.”
