Meghan Markle Wears Breezy Dress With Prince Harry in Nigeria
Meghan Markle brought the quiet luxury trend to the first day of her visit to Nigeria on Friday. The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry spent the day visiting the Lightway Academy. The couple was invited to the country by the government’s Chief of Defense Staff, Nigeria’s highest-ranking military official.
For the first day of the visit, the Duchess of Sussex opted for the peach-colored “Windsor” dress designed by Heidi Merrick. The sleeveless silk maxi dress features a dramatic keyhole back with a defined waist. Along with the dress, Markle chose gold jewelry pieces to accessorize her look.
The Duchess of Sussex wore the Cartier Gold Tank Française Watch, along with a pair of vintage Lanvin clip-on earrings. She also wore a diamond tennis bracelet, courtesy of Ariel Gordon Maffei, and a delicate yellow gold Cartier bracelet.
Merrick is among Markle’s favorite designers. She previously wore a dress from the label for the Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Wellington, Fla., on April 12. The former “Suits” star wore the “Ginger” dress from the California designer, which featured a folded halter top with a long scarf collar and a pleated, pocketed drop-waist skirt.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s overseas trip comes after Markle launched her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which she announced on March 14. The first product from Markle’s new brand was revealed on April 15, when friend and designer Tracy Robbins took to Instagram to share images of the American Riviera Orchard gift basket she received, which featured a jar of homemade strawberry jam.
“@americanrivieraorchard breakfast, lunch and dinner just got a little sweeter 🤍,” Robbins wrote in her Instagram post. “Thank you for the delicious basket! I absolutely love this jam so not sure I’m sharing with anyone. Thank you, M!”
Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s visit to Nigeria is not associated with engagements or tours for the British royal family. The couple made the decision in 2020 to take a step back from their duties as senior members of the House of Windsor and moved to California the same year.
