Nicola Coughlan’s Skincare Routine Includes the NuFace Device

It’s hard to watch season three of Bridgerton without being in awe of Nicola Coughlan’s radiant skin. The 37-year-old actress, who plays Penelope Featherington in the hit Netflix show, has rocked tons of stunning makeup looks on and off-screen, but her youthful complexion sets the stage. So, when the star recently revealed her skincare routine in a Vogue Beauty Secrets video, I was prepared to add everything to my cart ASAP.

In the video, Coughlan started out by prepping her skin with the NuFace Microcurrent Facial Device. “It lifts your cheekbones,” said the actress as she glided the device across her jawline, cheeks, and forehead. “It really works.”

And the Bridgerton star isn’t the only fan of the device—Hailey Bieber (another celebrity with enviable skin) used a NuFace device in a 2021 Instagram video. If this is the secret to Bieber’s plump, glowy glazed donut skin, then count me in!

NuFace Mini Starter Kit

NuFace

Unlike LED light masks that use different wavelengths of light to build collagen and improve skin texture, this microcurrent facial device works by using small electrical currents to help lift and tone your skin for a more sculpted appearance. The NuFace Mini Starter Kit comes with everything you need, including the device and the Aqua Gel Activator. This mini version has the same power as the larger NuFace Trinity, but it’s more travel-friendly and less expensive.

In a 2022 review, one Byrdie writer found the NuFace Trinity Microcurrent Facial Device to be effective, pain-free, and easy to use. To use both the mini and full-size versions, you simply apply the Aqua Gel Activator and then glide the device over your face in an upward motion for five minutes a day. (Make sure you use plenty of gel, otherwise you may feel some tingles.) The device promises to give you a sculpted jawline, lifted brows, and contoured cheeks in 60 days. Or, as Coughlan said, “The cheekbones are cheek-boning!”

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum

Ulta

After using the NuFace, Coughlan applied this hydrating serum from The Ordinary to both her face and her neck. Priced at just under $10, it won’t break your budget to smooth the serum onto your chest as well. This affordable product is packed with hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and vitamin B5 to moisturize and plump your skin. According to Byrdie’s review, it “soaks effortlessly into the skin” and “doesn’t leave behind any stickiness.”

Tatcha The Silk Peony Line-Smoothing Eye Cream

Tatcha

To keep the skin around her eyes smooth, Coughlan applied this nourishing eye cream from Tatcha. It has Japanese white peony, silk, and whey protein to minimize wrinkles and boost firmness. Because the skin around your eyes is so delicate, the actress recommended patting the cream around your eyes using your ring finger.

Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream

Next up, Coughlan applied Tatcha’s The Dewy Skin Cream. “This is so good under makeup,” she said in the video. This ultra-moisturizing cream also makes Byrdie’s list of the best Tatcha Products. Formulated with Japanese Purple Rice, it plumps and hydrates the skin.

Fenty Skin Hydra Visor Moisturizer With SPF 30

Sephora

The last step in Coughlan’s skincare routine before applying makeup is sunscreen. In the Vogue video, she used the Fenty Hydra Visor Moisturizer with SPF. This Fenty product not only provides SPF 30 sun protection, but it also features skincare ingredients like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to smooth pores, reduce dark spots, and hydrate the skin. According to shopper reviews, it blends without leaving behind a white cast and works well under makeup.
