Prince William Gave a Relatable Update on Charlotte

She might live in a palace and have a king as her grandfather, but Princess Charlotte is one relatable royal. Like most 9-year-olds, she is not the biggest fan of school.

Charlotte’s father, Prince William, gave an adorable academic update on the young princess at the U.K.’s national commemorative event marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Portsmouth, England, an event he attended with King Charles and Queen Camilla. In a video posted by The Independent, William asked the great-grand-daughter of World War II soldier Captain Alastair Bannerman, “Did you like the Red Arrows?” To which a woman with her replied, “I think she was going to ask you where Charlotte was.”

“Charlotte’s at school. Charlotte’s got exams,” he shared while leaning down to the little girl. “She had tests. She wasn’t looking forward to the school day. Hopefully it’s all gone well.”

This little girl is just one of many wondering about Charlotte’s whereabouts. The princess was last seen in December, when she attended her mom, Princess Kate’s, third-annual holiday carol concert alongside her brothers, Prince George, 10, and Prince Louis, 6, and her dad. However, the royal couple did celebrate Charlotte’s ninth birthday last month with a new portrait, in which she bares a striking resemblance to William. The snap sees her smiling and posing along a fence lined with flowers.

The children and their mother have been laying low since Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in March. A source told Us Weekly earlier this week that Kate is feeling better and is using her newfound energy to spend more time with her kids.

“Kate’s feeling strong enough to be very involved with the kids,” the source added. “She’s been an active parent.”

However, it is still unknown when Kate will be returning to her royal duties, as she is receiving ongoing preventative chemotherapy. It is also unlikely Charlotte will be making a public return for a while, as the royal family has canceled most engagements until July 4 due to a general election.
