Songzio Paris Flagship Store Opening
The Korean fashion house Songzio opens its first boutique in Paris, in the heart of the Marais.
Located at 10 rue Charlot, 75003, the Songzio Paris boutique uniquely blends Parisian classicism with Korean modernism. Designed by Jay Songzio, the brand’s creative director, and Hypnos XP, a renowned architecture studio based in Paris, the boutique stands out in the Haussmannian street with a brutalist aesthetic.

The Songzio Flagship Store in Paris embodies the brand’s creative concept of duality: order and disorder coexist harmoniously. Symmetry and asymmetry, light and darkness, curves and angles, mass and division, finitude and infinity, boldness and serenity, complexity and tranquility, classical and avant-garde.

Architectural Concept
Songzio’s collections begin on a canvas where inspirations, ideas, and emotions of the season are painted. From this painting, each look is meticulously drawn and shaped into the final collection. The Songzio boutique in Paris captures this creative process, from the artist’s initial works to the completed collection.
This concept is translated through modernist architectural design, the pure choice of raw materials, calculated use of light and reflections, and a dramatic selection of Songzio’s artworks, which inject a strong emotional charge into this stoic space.
Architectural Design
The boutique features a striking neo-brutalist concrete façade integrated into a Haussmannian building. It offers a transformative shift that invites visitors to embrace a forward-looking perspective as they enter the space. Spread across five spaces and two floors, the boutique is bold yet calm, minimalist yet complex, classical yet avant-garde.
The goal of the spatial design was to simplify and unify the five spaces distributed throughout the building. A 7.5-meter concrete staircase, cast in place, connects the ground floor, the expansive basement retail space, and the private office on the first floor. Two additional annex spaces within the building are connected by a shared passageway, allowing private guests to explore exclusive pieces from Songzio’s runway collections.
Inside, raw and textured concrete is paired with refined black oak. On the ground floor, monolithic columns stand proudly, with sculpted alcoves and indirect lighting, all connected by raw steel bars. An angular slanted wall cuts through the space, supporting a suspended jewelry drawer. Segmented mirror panels display the designer’s sketches, and a long, curved LED light gently envelops the angular space.
About Songzio
Songzio finds its unique identity through its creative process, paint on black. Every collection begins on a black canvas where Songzio creates his painting of the season. In them, the heavy vertical strokes represent the object while the sharp horizontal strokes represent its emotions, coexisting in ‘order and disorder’. Songzio’s own sense of avant-garde is defined as ‘order and disorder’, a terminology to describe the overhauling sense of duality of philosophies and aesthetics that coexist in Songzio’s designs. A sense of duality permeates through Songzio’s art and collection.
With its avant-garde pattern making & draping, unique silhouette, and artisanal applications of Songzio’s original artworks, Songzio creates a sense of Western modernism coexisting in oriental elegance. Heavy in stillness, yet fluid in motion, Songzio’s collections converge opposing aesthetics: sharp yet delicate, rough yet elegant, dark yet ablaze.
You can discover Songzio’s 24AW collection in Songzio’s global stores including Printemps France, HBX, Farfetch, H.Lorenzo, Dantone as well as its much-anticipated Paris flagship store set to open in October 2024.
