When trying to put an outfit together without a coat in early spring, layering is your best friend. What you want is to build an outfit that gives you warmth without making you feel too bulky or uncomfortable. Start off with a fitted long-sleeve top or a light turtleneck as your base, these pieces are usually very comfy and they’re perfect as a first layer. After this, you have two options, depending on how many layers you want to go for. You can either add a shirt and a merino wool cardigan on top of it, for extra coziness and a more elegant look.

Or you can throw on an Aran knit, leaving the turtleneck underneath showing and maybe playing around with the color of these pieces. This will give you a more fun approach and a bit of a casual one. Both of these options can be found on Gaelsong and they work well with either casual bottoms, skirts or layered on top of dresses if you want another layer. Knitwear is a great option as an outer layer as it gives you so much warmth without having that coat look.

Accessories are a great way to keep yourself warm while giving your outfit an extra layer of style. A chunky knit scarf will instantly add coziness to your look while also serving as an eye-catching statement piece. If you get one of those really big scarves, you can even wear it as a cape, layered over your shoulders and pinned down. Pieces like sleek leather gloves or fingerless gloves are another great way to stay warm without an outer layer, as your hands can make you feel colder than you are. When it comes to headwear, go for a wool beret or a beanie to add that extra warmth, but also a touch of originality and charm to the whole look. If the weather is particularly unpredictable, carrying a lightweight wrap or poncho can be a game-changer, allowing you to adjust your outfit as needed while keeping that put-together and chic appearance.

The right fabrics make all the difference when it comes to styling a coatless outfit during the early days of spring. Choosing warm but breathable materials ensures that you stay cozy without feeling overheated. Wool, cashmere and fleece are the perfect options for outer layers as they trap heat effectively while having a lightweight feel. A wool blazer or cashmere cardigan will offer you both warmth and a bit of elegance, making it easy to transition from a casual daytime look to an evening one. Corduroy pants are another amazing find, as they provide a lot of warmth while adding a touch of texture to your outfit. Stick to high-quality, breathable materials that allow air circulation while retaining heat, so you always stay comfortable as temperatures fluctuate throughout the day.
