Three ‘Parent Trap’ Looks on My Summer Moodboard
The other day, I found myself falling in love with summer looks from an unexpected source…
The original Parent Trap. Have you seen it? Growing up, I was obsessed with the Nancy Meyers version (who else wanted to be Hallie when they grew up?), and I was unsure of how the ’60s version would hold up. Turns out, it’s filled with just as many hilarious hijinks and aspirational outfits. Below are three looks that I’ll be recreating this summer…
1) Peasant blouses — think: scoop necks and smocking — feel romantic and relaxed for warm evenings. Three examples: embroidered, off-the-shoulder, and voluminous.
2) A gingham swimsuit — Gingham is a classic summer print, and I’m especially loving it on a swimsuit. Three examples: pastels, triangle, plunge.
3) A va va voom dress — I tend to save stunners like this for weddings, but seeing Maureen O’Hara’s floral version is convincing me to dress up for dinner with friends or walks with my husband. Three examples: polka dot, floral, and cut-out.
What movies or shows are inspiring your style this summer? I also love the outfits in Dirty Dancing and Stella Got Her Groove Back.
P.S. Our favorite sexy scenes, and the shoes we’re seeing all over NYC.
